Directories and lead fees
What Checkatrade, MyBuilder and the rest actually cost, and what owning the same enquiry yourself involves.

Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Rated People and the rest sell the same product: access to enquiries, priced per month or per lead, for as long as you keep paying. For a business with no reviews and no rankings that is a reasonable purchase, and we say so on these pages rather than pretending otherwise.
Where it stops working is harder to see, because it happens gradually. The fee rises, the enquiries get shared with more members, and after three years you have paid a great deal and own nothing. These pages work through the arithmetic with your figures rather than a national average.
Is Checkatrade worth it for a UK tradesperson?
What Checkatrade costs a UK trade, when the maths works, when it doesn't, and what owning the same enquiry involves instead.
How much does Checkatrade cost for a tradesperson?
How directory pricing is structured, the costs that don't appear on the price page, and how to work out your real cost per job.
Checkatrade or MyBuilder, which is better for getting work?
The two platforms work on different models. Which suits you depends on your job values and how you price, not on which is more popular.

Send us what you pay and what you win from it. We'll do the cost-per-won-job maths with your figures rather than a national average.
