WHAT THIS SHOULD IMPROVE

01A visible monthly work record

02Priorities tied to evidence

03Less time decoding vanity reports

The problem this solves.

The standard SEO report is forty pages of charts answering no question you asked. It arrives, you skim it, you cannot tell whether the month was good, and you file it. Most owners we speak to have received these for years and couldn't say what was done in any given month.

The reason it looks like that is uncomfortable. A report full of charts is easier to produce than a report stating plainly what was done and what happened, because the second kind is checkable.

What is actually included.

In the order it gets done, because the order matters more than the list.

01

A baseline you can argue with

Where you stand at the start, measured from defined points across your area so later comparisons mean something. Written down before any work begins.

02

What was done, plainly

Which pages changed, when, and why. If a month was light, the report says so. This is the part most reporting quietly omits.

03

Movement, in sequence

Indexing, then impressions, then position, then clicks, then enquiries. Early progress shows in the first two long before the phone changes, and knowing that stops you cancelling in month three.

04

Enquiry signals

Calls and form completions tied to the pages that produced them, so you can see which work is paying rather than guessing.

05

Next month's priorities

Three things, with reasons. Not a list of everything that could theoretically be done.

06

Missing data shown as missing

If something hasn't been measured it says so. It never appears as a zero, or as an estimate dressed up as a fact.

What the first month looks like.

  1. Tracking checked and connected, including whether Search Console and analytics are set up correctly
  2. Baseline recorded across your coverage area
  3. Agreement on which numbers actually matter for your business

And every month after.

  1. A monthly summary short enough to read on a phone
  2. Position re-measured from the same points every time
  3. Priorities for the coming month, with reasons
  4. An honest note when something did not work

What most providers get wrong.

Reporting one ranking figure for a whole area. For a service-area business position varies street by street, so a single number is either meaningless or was chosen because it looks good.

Only reporting what went well. A month where something was tried and didn't work is useful information, and hiding it means the same thing gets tried again.

When you should not buy this.

If any of these describe you, we would rather say so now than take a month’s money finding out.

  • You want a big report to forward to somebody. These are deliberately short.
  • You want rankings only. Position without enquiry context is how people end up ranking for things nobody searches.
  • You want daily updates. Search doesn't move daily and watching it that closely produces bad decisions.

Questions we get asked.

How long is the report?

Short. What was done, what moved, what is next. If you want the underlying detail it is there, but you shouldn't need it to understand the month.

Do I need Google Analytics?

Search Console is the essential one and it is free. Analytics helps on the enquiry side. If neither is set up properly we sort that out first, because measuring nothing is a poor starting point.

What if the numbers go down?

The report says so and explains what we think caused it. Search moves, competitors act, and seasons exist. A provider whose numbers only ever rise is showing you the wrong numbers.
