How long does Google Business Profile reinstatement take?
Google's appeals guidance says reviews and decisions can take up to five business days. That is not a promise that your profile will be reinstated by then. Check your appeal status, prepare for lost Maps enquiries and follow up on the existing case if the stated review window passes.
What actually affects how long it takes
- Whether the breach was corrected before the appeal. A clean appeal against a fixed profile is a fundamentally different review from a contested one
- Whether your documents agree with each other and with the profile
- Whether this is a first appeal or a resubmission after a rejection
- Whether the underlying issue is an address, which takes longest, or something simple like a name
- Whether your category is in a sweep, which slows everything in that category at once
Trading while you're invisible
This is the part almost nobody plans for, and it matters more than the timescale itself. A suspension removes you from Maps and the local pack. It does not remove your website from ordinary search results, and it doesn't touch anything you own.
- Check your website still ranks organically. For many trades it does, and that's suddenly your main channel.
- Put the phone number somewhere obvious on every page, because the profile that used to carry it has gone.
- Tell existing customers you're still trading. Repeat and referral work isn't affected at all, and a quick message to your last hundred customers costs nothing.
- Consider short-term paid ads. Expensive, but cheaper than a silent month if you have staff to pay.
- Keep asking for reviews. They're hidden while suspended and normally return with the profile, so the work isn't wasted.
- Don't create a second profile to bridge the gap. It's the fastest way to turn a temporary problem into a permanent one.
Signs it isn't going well
| Signal | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| First appeal declined quickly | Read the decision and policy; speed alone does not explain a rejection |
| Declined twice on the same grounds | The real cause hasn't been identified yet |
| Asked to verify again, repeatedly | An address problem, almost always |
| No response for an extended period | Usually queue depth rather than a decision |
What most people get wrong
Treating the wait as the whole problem. The cost of a suspension isn't the reinstatement, it's the weeks of lost calls while you wait, and that cost is reducible if you act on it instead of refreshing the dashboard.
The second mistake is what the wait teaches you. A business that goes silent the moment a profile is suspended has discovered it was never really its own channel. The website, the domain and the customer list are yours. The profile is an account you're permitted to use, and it can be taken away by somebody else's decision.
None of this matters if the appeal itself wasn't done properly in the first place, that's the lever that actually moves the timeline. Roofers dealing with a Maps problem that isn't a suspension should check the roofing-specific causes instead. We'll look at where the appeal actually stands if you're not sure it's moving at all.
Examples and supporting notes
The status table suggests checks to make while waiting. It is not measured turnaround data: a quick rejection or another verification request does not, on its own, reveal the cause.
Claim to check: The cost of a suspension is the reinstatement wait itself.
It's the weeks of lost calls while you wait, and that cost is reducible by putting a stopgap in place, organic search, direct contact with existing customers, short-term ads, rather than just refreshing the dashboard.

Related questions
Can I speed it up?
Not directly. The only meaningful influence is submitting one well-prepared appeal against a corrected profile rather than several weak ones.
Should I keep chasing support?
Check the appeals tool first. If the stated review window has passed or you cannot use the available option, contact support about the existing case. Do not submit duplicate pending appeals.
Will my rankings return to where they were?
Often broadly, since reviews and profile age normally come back with it. Expect some volatility for a while afterwards rather than an instant return to exactly where you were.
Can I still get work while suspended?
Yes, through your website, referrals and existing customers. This is exactly why a business relying solely on its profile is more fragile than it looks.
